GREECE 2017
The island of Crete loomed large in our family’s memory. A frequent part of the stories, the subject of repeated slide shows growing up, and the occasional photo box rummaging in later years. For us kids the images represented evidence of an exotic first few years of life. For others, the photos brought up real memories, of a special time and a beautiful place – an aqua blue ocean and an olive green hillside – that were once, for a short time, home.
After more than 40 years, it was past time to revisit Greece, and to retrace the steps along Crete's rocky shorelines and cobbled pathways. It was a welcome and much anticipated chance for all of us to experience it together. And to take a whole new series of photos, each accompanied by fresh memories of our own.
